St. Jude's January 2007 Egg |
|
For the St. Jude's Hospital January 2007 Auction
Fundraiser. I wanted to get 2 done so they would have one for the February auction as well, but ran out of time.
Next year 2 for SURE!
This is an ostrich egg lady's musical jewelry box with 2 removeable platforms.
The top platform has a little girlie still life consisting of the music box that plays "Thank Heaven for Little Girls",
with the large bow being the key wind, a miniature mirror, roses and 3 necklaces. Lift this out and see the sectioned
velved jewelry holder, and remove that and you find the hidden storage space at the bottom of the egg. The real stunner
of this egg is the unusual color. It is a deep shimmery royal blue that changes into a shimmer royal purple as the egg
is turned or as you move around it. It is covered with silver antique or vintage stamping reproductions, Swarovski rhinestones,
silver netting and mirrored tiles. The centerpiece on the top half is a gorgeous signed Weiss brooch (not removeable this
time), and the piece edging the bottom half is another signed Weiss choker from the 40's. The base is a beautiful
silverplate candlestick holder with a garland of grapes and leaves swirling from top to bottom.

The Sonoma Hospital has its fundraiser auction in the summer.
These are some of the ostrich eggs I have done for them. I've heard from them that my eggs do really well at these
auctions so I have become a regular donor.
